Southern Methodist University invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the SMU Center for the Environment. The successful candidate will have an outstanding academic record in environmental research in an area (or areas) of science, social science, the humanities, communications, law or engineering. The Director will have experience developing interdisciplinary research projects, the ability to administer budgetary and personnel processes, and proven experience in obtaining and managing extramural funding in the form of grants and through development activities. Most importantly, this position requires a leader who thinks broadly, and who will reach across disciplines in the development of research and programmatic activities supported by the Center. The Director will have a tenured appointment in the appropriate department.
Established in 2009, the mission of the SMU Center for the Environment is to promote research, education and community outreach to meet the challenges of sustainability and maintenance of a healthy environment.
